The Languedoc landscape is dominated by limestone creating the numerous gorges, plains, hills and plateau.

The Romans were quick to take advantage of the region's 'terroir', for wine production and as a source of water.

For a relaxing and fun day, take canoes from Collias towards the Pont du Gard. Pack a French picnic of cheese, bread and saucisson and stop along the way.

Make sure you chill the wine in the coll water of the Gardon and takes lots of water to drink; the sun is even stronger when you are on the water.
